ServiceNow® Private Stack Engineering
ServiceNow® Private Stack. We know how.
Independent engineering for organisations that run ServiceNow® under their own control. Architecture, migration, upgrades and day-2 operations for Private Stack — formerly known as self-hosted and on-premise. We have worked on it since the Aspen release.
What changed in 2026
ServiceNow® renamed self-hosted and on-premise deployment to Private Stack and placed it inside its Sovereign Cloud Platform Portfolio. What was once a tolerated exception is now a supported, named product line, running at more than 500 organisations across 28 countries.
For European organisations under sovereignty, classification or connectivity constraints, this removed the last strategic argument against keeping ServiceNow® in your own environment.
It did not make running it any easier.
Where organisations get stuck
Upgrades overrun the maintenance window
So releases get deferred, and eventually an end-of-life compliance finding arrives.
Cloning is not available
ServiceNow® lists Instance Clone as unavailable on Private Stack. A manual method exists. It is slow, and it is somebody's weekend.
Nobody has sized this before
Hardware, VM sizing, network topology, bandwidth, and the application and database tiers. Get it wrong and you pay for it for five years.
Keeping it running eats every weekend
Manual steps, tribal knowledge, overtime that has quietly become normal. That is an operations gap, not a platform fault.
Performance degrades and nobody knows why
In cloud, that is ServiceNow's problem. Here it is yours.
What we do about it
- Architecture and sizing — Reference-grade designs for the load balancer, application and database tiers: hardware and VM sizing, network topology, and infrastructure documentation.
- Deployment and configuration — Standing up the environment from the design: installation, configuration, and hand-off to a running system.
- Migration, in every direction — Cloud to Private Stack. Private Stack to cloud. Between hosting providers. From small non-production instances to mission-critical environments holding terabytes.
- Upgrades and cloning — Including the automation ServiceNow® does not provide for customer-operated deployments.
- Day-2 operations — Monitoring, patching, maintenance and support, long term. Installation was never the goal. Running it well is.
- Troubleshooting and performance — Deep analysis when something is wrong and the answer is not obvious.
- Infrastructure automation — Red Hat® Virtualization and KVM. Full environments from templates: load balancers, application nodes, replicated databases, MID servers.
Why independent matters
We do not sell hosting. We do not sell hardware. We do not resell licences.
That means when we tell you Private Stack is the wrong answer for your organisation, and that you should stay in the cloud, there is no invoice attached to the advice. Most people you will ask this question have one.
It also means we are not competing with your hosting provider or your systems integrator. We work alongside both, and frequently behind them.
Start small
You should not award a multi-year platform contract to a firm you met on the internet. Neither would we.
Start with a fixed-price assessment. Two to three weeks, a defined deliverable, a clear price. You get a document you can act on whether or not you work with us again.
- Private Stack Design Assessment — for a new deployment, built right from day one
- Private Stack Migration Assessment — for a move from cloud, customisations included
- Private Stack Operations Assessment — for the manual effort and overtime that shouldn't be normal
- Private Stack Health Assessment — for the platform that has gotten slow, and nobody knows why
